Monkey pings zambian president

This doesn't sound like a fun day for a president: being dowsed by a monkey. Hey, monkey: next time, get a urinal.

Somethings are better in theory

chocolate bananas

Have all three boys with me: check. Everyone wants a snack: check. Chocolate and bananas sound good: check.

Sometimes it's all about execution. For the record, the picture was before consumption. Luckily the boys didn't mind. If you can get past the mental imagery, they were rather tasty. It's almost like the Baby Ruth in Caddyshack.

Not a great day for marriage

Yesterday, it seems, marriage was under attack. Literally. It seems jackhole number one thought it would be fun to chase around his wife with a kitchen knife. His wife of just a few hours. Now they are getting a divorce (thank God).

Then jackhole number two decided to see if his wife could catch a moving dump truck. Luckily, he ran his drunk ass into some trees. Hopefully the weekend will be better.

Man chases down iphone - electronically

iphone tracking map

Here is a great write-up where a man lost his iPhone and was able to track it down using the new MobileMe iPhone feature which allows the device owner to locate their iPhone. The long and short of it is that he got his ** ahem ** "borrowed" iPhone back, but it's the way he tells the story that's entertaining.

Happy Waffle, here's to you and your recovered iPhone.

Can't sell pot on craigslist. who knew?

cannabis

Evidently it's a bad idea to sell weed on Craigslist. You learn something new every day. It seems some brainiac decided to put a listing in code not realizing the police know the code.

A for creativity, D- for career choice, F for brains.

Free beer!

sam adams

What do you get when a beer truck overturns with 40,000 pounds of beer? Free beer! Okay, not really, but, you have to admit: it was a nice thought.

Way to go, fido!

dog

(Dogs may vary. Dog in picture may not be indicative of future results.)

What do you do when a drunken fool shoots you? If you're this dog, you bite off the end of the man's nose.

Nicely played, Fido.

I've got my iPhone

iphone 3gs

I picked up my new iPhone 3Gs today as I had planned to since the announcement. I have been too busy to really play with it, but I expect to have some fun with it over the weekend.

It will be more fun than driving with Homer.

Directions by homer

homer simpson on tom tom

Lost? Let Homer get you home. Tom Tom provides alternative voices to it's popular navigation device for a small fee:
John Cleese, Mr.T and Kim Cattrall of 'Sex and the City' are among the most popular downloads already offered. Homer's voice is that of Emmy-winning actor Dan Castellaneta, who also voices Krusty the Clown and Mayor Quimby in "The Simpsons."

I'm not sure that I'd trust his directions if I didn't know the tech behind his voice. For all the cool gadgets coming soon, it's nice to know some are already here.

More future

It seems we're finally getting to the point we don't just make stuff, but we make stuff that pushes the envelope. Gesture-based entertainment and interaction with projected images appear to be on the horizon (and these items are much better than some other tech).

Now a Dutch company is employing some Augmented Reality to use a cellphone camera, GPS, and compass to layer information about what you're seeing onto the device's screen. This is the kind of tech that actually solves problems, making the world a geek-intoxicating Mecca.

Puppy survives flushing

flushed puppy

Wow! It seems a 4-year old thought it a good idea to wash a puppy in the toilet, and he evidently flushed him, but he survived. Daniel Blair was washing the muddy mutt, and, for whatever reason, decided to flush the toilet. Happily, the dog was found quickly and released. Unhappily he still has the same owner.

Mms and tethering in at&t iphone

mms and tethering

Someone has found a way to get MMS and tethering on an AT&T iPhone already. At least that's the word on the street. Let's hope so! I want me some MMS on my iPhone!

A step toward the future

cupcake cnc

This isn't the first "3D printer" that takes 3D computer models and makes them into real objects (think solid plastic models, not items made of separate pieces). However, this one includes the hope of a 3D scanner for replicating objects. Yeah, it's nowhere near where Trek was, but it's getting closer. Besides, it's just fun. That is if you have money to throw at it. The kit costs $750 and the pre-assembled version is $2,500.

iPhone remote find

I'm getting an iPhone and I've found which one I want. After Apple's announcement I'm all giddy.

But the new iPhone has a feature that lets you find a lost or misplaced iPhone by logging into Mobile Me.

It's a pretty cool feature, especially when some iPod Touch robot comes and takes it away.

Freedom to look good

baby toupee

Per an AP article:
A man who tore the wig off a telegenic Taiwan legislator last year was sentenced to five months in jail for depriving the MP of his freedom to look good, a court spokesman said Tuesday.

Evidently God did not make him look good as he was no longer free to look good sans toupee. It's amazing what hair can do. Evidently it can make someone go to jail for 5 months.

I'm getting me an iphone!

iphone 3gs
They said it was coming. It is.

Now I'm getting one - the new iPhone 3GS. I haven't decided the flavor of iPhone: 16GB or 32GB, but I have time: about a week and a half.

Now I get to sell my iPod Touch and get the whole shebang. Woot!

Here are some of the features:
  • 3MP camera with auto focus, auto exposure, auto white balance, and video capture at 30fps VGA and editing

  • Built-in compass app

  • All 3.0 features

  • Voice control

  • Longer battery life

  • and much more

Cool tech on it's way

light blue optics

At E3 several people announced some pretty cool tech including Project Natal, Microsoft's controllerless X-Box project.

In addition, there were a couple other items that stood out, like Sony's tech to take 2D images of faces and create 3D models that could be realistically animated.

2d face to 3d

Even better is the promise by Light Blue Optics to make a Pico Projector that will also read gestures from the projected image as input. Their projection is to have this available as early as year end. Imagine that in an iPhone. mmmmm...

G'day mate! Now fugetaboutit!

severed horse head

An Australian trainer "threatened to shoot his horses and send their heads to a government minister." Wow. That's dumb. And he was fined for it. That's dumber. At least he didn't call 911 over OJ. Then he'd go to jail.

T-shirt for all the social media fans out there

I'm a big fan of Despair.com. They have great posters, of which my company has some (Power and Madness). I've even used one of their posters in my 100 post's posts (not my other 100 post's post). I've even used their do-it-yourself section to create a couple post images.

But they have a new t-shirt (not unlike this blog's t-shirts) that is perfect for those that love social media. Take a look.

Gesture based entertainment

It seems we are getting more into the realm of gesture-based gadget control with the new Project Natal from X-Box and Canesta's TV control technology. Soon we will be jumping in front of our TV's, swatting the air looking like goofballs, and enjoying every minute of it. It's some pretty cool tech to say the least. Hopefully it will work fully and not be hit-or-miss like Wii Sports Boxing. I guess we will see.

New psp and iphone coming

sony psp go

Well, it's been rumored for awhile, but the new PSP GO has been confirmed (and confirmed, and confirmed). I wonder if it will provide video streaming.

But more rumors are also surfacing about a new iPhone with lots of great features. Let's hope that pans out in 6 days.

UPDATE: Engadget has more details and a hands-on preview.
