It wasn't long ago that someone decided to create customized ringtones. This way when someone called we didn't have to have to phone handy to know who was calling. If suddenly we heard AC/DC's Highway to Hell, we knew the ex was calling.
But texting has become the next big thing and as reluctant as some of us were to join the revolution, most of us are seeing the benefit in texting. However, we are not at the same point with texting as we were with calls: one tone for all texts.
Wouldn't it be nice if the next version of the iPhone let me choose from several media options for customized dingtones?
The five-note Close Encounters theme chimes? It's that crazy chick that keeps texting. And with the response her phone can ding the first 6 drum notes from Rough Boy.
Customized dingtones. Because it's time.
